January’s PIM saw a packed house fascinated by Camilita Nuttall’s presentation.
Camilita more than lived up to her description as a “Force of Nature”. A particularly dynamic speaker, Camilita is an international Motivational Speaker, Entrepreneur, Property Investor & Author. She runs Nuttall Property Investments, Vision for Destiny Limited and a Global Coffee business, with over 7000 distributors worldwide.
Camilita is from Trinidad and Tobago, and had a tough start in life, growing up in poverty, as the youngest of 11 children. She came to London to study law – but rapidly identified opportunities to make more money, faster.
So she launched a Network Marketing business and now has a coffee business in 27 countries, especially in Australia. She also got on the housing ladder and then built a property portfolio.
Today she has spoken to audiences of over 10,000 and also has a charitable foundation. She is the epitome of success against the most impossible odds. As she says “If I Can Do It, You Can Do It”.
One of the key themes she highlighted is:
“Be Hungry and Go After What You Want.”
She certainly demonstrates that total commitment, focus and determination herself, in everything she does. When she first came to London – she had just £4 in her pocket – but she still had business cards!
In fact, on the night, she had to drive through the snow to reach us…
Camilita’s framework for success is based on these 5 key questions:
What – Is your goal?
Why – Is this your goal?
When – do you want to achieve this goal?
How – are you going to achieve this goal?
Who – Can help you realize your goal?
Camilita has a specific process for helping people identify their vision and align with their goals. As she expanded on these 5 questions, she gave this advice
- Never stop learning
- Define your economic plan
- Do personal development every day
- Maximize your potential
- Be passionate about your business
- Have clear and defined written goals
- Upgrade your relationships – make sure they are all positive
One of her practical suggestions was to list 6 people for each of your goals, who could be your coach and help you achieve them. They need to be people who are already doing what you want to do, successfully. And you may need to be persistent to contact them! In fact one of the people on Camilita’s list to help her achieve her next property goals is Del Brown.
Many of us tend to live too much in the past and be constrained by it – Camilita’s advice on this so common problem is simple – just remember:
“Who you are is not Where you are – and Where you are is not Who you are.”
As Camilita highlighted, there are so many businesses and in every type of business and industry you can easily find both those who struggle and those who succeed. Some turn over £25k, some 250k and some 2.5m. The difference is in the individual behind them – and it’s not about education. Going forward the single greatest key to business success is You – your choices, your beliefs and your attitude.
“You can only control your attitude and your activity.”
This is a great reminder to focus on those things within your control and not to worry about those you can’t, such as the economy. (Here at Property Options, we are well aware that you can grow a property business in a recession, just as well as when the economy picks up.)
Camilita’s final advice to grow any business:
“Give More Value Than You Get Paid For.”
Referrals are one of the most powerful marketing and growth strategies for any business – and this is the key to increasing them. Which is one of the reasons networking events are so powerful – they are a great way to develop contacts.
These are just a few of the highlights of an inspirational evening. If you missed out on Camilita’s talk, do make sure you come to our next PIM and have a chat to some of us who were there.
Our next PIM is on Thursday 26 February and we look forward to seeing you.
